A Bad Moms Christmas Review:

A festive bomb to follow-up an already mediocre concept movie, “A Bad Moms Christmas” is the kind of seasonal catastrophe you need more than a few drinks to sit through. Created by Huayi Brothers Pictures, whose interest in the mainstream market indicates a further expansion of Chinese funded and aimed productions, the film is yet another sneaky box office trick on a global scale, appealing to middle-aged consumers who couldn’t care less that the sequel was entirely scriptless when given the green light.

Semi-improvised and riddled with line flubs, “A Bad Moms Christmas” is as careless as it is badly organised, becoming only one noticeable boom mic away from walkout-worthy as flat skit after flat skit paves the way for a true holiday snoozefest. A cash-grab barely hidden behind comedy with more random trailer content than substantial character development, the film gyrates on Santa and teaches kids how to swear, looking for that one laugh to grab you and land a ticket in your hand before you can think twice about what you’re signing up for.

A holiday turkey yanking us begrudgingly into the festive season, “A Bad Moms Christmas” is as disastrous as the occasion it depicts, overflowing with seasonal signifiers yet missing the true warmth of a Christmas get-together with friends and family. Subscribing to the immutable ‘Bad Christmas’ trend while quite willingly bagging the spot held by last year’s “Office Christmas Party,” the movie knows its place as it dodges the critics, here to take your money and run before you’ve even thought about putting the decorations up.
